Deleting your PollVey account

You can delete your PollVey account yourself, at any time, from inside the app. This page explains exactly how, what is removed, what is kept, and why — so there are no surprises after you tap the button.

How to delete your account

Open the PollVey app and sign in.
Go to Settings.
Tap Delete Account.
PollVey checks your account and shows you what deletion will actually do to it — including anything you are about to lose. Read that screen.
Tap Delete My Account to confirm, or Keep My Account to stop.

Deletion is permanent. There is no undo and no grace period, and PollVey cannot restore a deleted account.

If you only want a break, Settings also offers Deactivate Account, which puts your account on hold and can be reversed by signing back in. Deactivating does not delete anything.

Do these things first

Cancel any paid subscription in the App Store or Google Play. See the section below — this one matters most.
Export anything you want to keep. Your polls, surveys and results are removed on deletion. If you need a copy of your data, request it before you delete your account.
Spend or accept the loss of any Poll Credits. Unspent Poll Credits are forfeited and are not refunded.

Subscriptions stay with Apple or Google

A PollVey Business subscription bought in the app is a contract between you and Apple or Google. PollVey cannot cancel it, and deleting your PollVey account does not cancel it. If you leave it in place it will keep renewing and keep charging you, even though the account it paid for no longer exists.

Cancel it yourself before you delete:

iPhone and iPad — Apple subscription settings
Android — Google Play subscription settings

Before you confirm, the app tells you whether it found a store-managed subscription on your account. It will never tell you that PollVey cancelled one, because PollVey cannot.

Poll Credits

Poll Credits are prepaid and non-refundable. Any balance left on your account when you delete it is forfeited. The app shows you your remaining balance on the confirmation screen so you can decide with that in front of you.

Records of credits you already used are handled separately — see "Purchases and Poll Credit usage" below.

What is deleted

Deleting your account removes your identity, your content and your access:

Your account, sign-in credentials and all active sessions
Your profile, social profile and public profile page
Your polls, poll options, surveys, survey questions and their results
Your votes, your survey responses and your answers
Your comments, direct messages, conversations and group messages
Your poll groups and the groups you created
Your follows, friendships and blocks
Your uploaded photos, video and audio, including the files behind them
Your notification settings, push tokens and content preferences
Guardian links and guardian controls attached to your account
Your subscription record and your Poll Credit balance
Your business profile and your membership of any organisation

Your handle is released so it stops belonging to you. It is held for a period before anyone else can claim it, so that nobody can immediately register your old handle and pose as you.

What is kept, and why

A small number of records survive deletion. They are kept without your name, email address or phone number. Wherever one of these records used to point at you, it now points at an anonymous marker or a one-way identifier instead.

Purchases and Poll Credit usage

PollVey keeps the record that a purchase happened — which store transaction it was, what was bought and what it cost — and the record of each Poll Credit consumed by a completed response.

Why: these are financial records. If a refund, chargeback, or tax question comes up later, the answer has to exist. The transaction record is also what stops the same store purchase being applied twice. And a Poll Credit consumed by your response to someone else's survey is their billing evidence — deleting your account must not erase a charge another business already paid.

Your running balance ledger is not kept. It describes a balance that no longer exists, so it goes with the account.

Safety and moderation records

PollVey keeps reports you filed, reports filed about you, the events behind a safety decision, open moderation cases, and any live sanction on the account — a suspension, a mention restriction, or a required handle change. Records that carried no sanction at all are deleted rather than left lying around.

Why: deleting your account must not be a way to destroy evidence about yourself, or to walk away from a suspension and come back clean. Live sanctions are keyed to a one-way identifier, so if the same person registers again, the sanction can reattach to the new account.

Business trial history

If you had a Business account, PollVey keeps the record that your organisation received its complimentary 14-Day Business Trial. The business name, phone number and address in that record are stored as one-way identifiers, never as readable text.

Why: the complimentary Business Trial belongs to the business organisation, and each organisation gets exactly one. Deleting a Business Account does not restore complimentary trial eligibility. Without this record, deleting and re-registering would produce an endless series of complimentary Business Trials.

This restricts the complimentary Business Trial only. A returning business can subscribe to a paid plan at any time — nothing here blocks that.

Your organisation

If you were the administrator of a business organisation and other approved members remain, administrator ownership transfers to one of them and the organisation keeps operating. If you were the last member, the organisation is marked deleted. Any invitation still outstanding to your address is declined, so a link that was live when you left cannot be redeemed afterwards.

Invitations you sent

Invitation records and their event history are kept, with your identity removed. Any invitation of yours that was still redeemable is revoked first. Contact details in an invitation were only ever stored as one-way identifiers, never as readable text.

What other people received

Some records belong to other people and mention you. Those are kept, with your identity removed:

Notifications other users received about something you did — the link to your profile is removed, the notification itself stays readable to them
The rows recording that you were a recipient of someone else's private poll or survey — the reference to you becomes an anonymous marker that can never match a real account, and removing them entirely would turn a private poll public
A group owner's own contact-book entry for you — the name, email or phone they typed themselves, now unlinked from any account

Administrator records

If your account held PollVey administrator access, the grant is revoked and every credential is cleared, but the record of which actions that administrator took is kept. An audit log that its own subject can delete is not an audit log.

How long retained records are kept

Indefinitely, and never linked to your name, email address or phone number. PollVey does not run an automated purge job that deletes these records after a set period, and we are not going to publish a retention period we do not enforce.

Two things are the exception, because they finish on their own: the queue that removes your uploaded files from storage runs until each file is confirmed gone, and a released handle is held for a period before it can be claimed again.

If you contacted support

Messages sent through the website contact form are not connected to any account — they carry only what was typed into the form, and the sender may not have had an account at all. They are handled through the support process rather than by account deletion. To have support correspondence removed, write to support@pollvey.com.
